By Absolute Refrigerants, wholesale refrigerants from Scottsdale, Arizona. Last reviewed October 2026.
If you run an HVAC or refrigeration business, buying refrigerant one cylinder at a time costs you money and time. Buying by the pallet lowers your cost per pound and keeps your trucks stocked before the busy season. This guide covers how pallet sizes work, which refrigerants contractors usually buy in bulk, how to compare bulk prices fairly, and what to expect when the freight truck shows up.
Quick answers
- Pallet sizes: quarter (10 cylinders), half (20) or full (40) on most refrigerants.
- Pricing: live bulk pricing on every product page, updated throughout the day. No quote form needed.
- Shipping: free LTL truck freight to the lower 48, signature required. Weekday orders before 1 PM MST usually ship the same day.
- Mixed pallets: pick up to five refrigerants with our custom pallet request.
- Checkout: upload your EPA card or e-sign a waiver.

Why buy refrigerant by the pallet?
- Lower cost per pound. Pallet pricing is lower per cylinder than buying singles, and the discount grows from a quarter to a full pallet.
- Fewer supply-house runs. Techs spend less time driving for gas and more time on billable work.
- Stock before demand spikes. Refrigerant demand jumps in spring and summer, especially in hot states. Buying in the off-season helps you avoid scrambling for stock during a July heat wave.
- One delivery, one invoice. A single freight delivery replaces a stack of small orders.
How pallet sizes work
Our pallet listings come in three sizes, so you can buy what your shop actually uses:
- Quarter pallet: 10 cylinders. A good starting point for a small shop or a refrigerant you use less often.
- Half pallet: 20 cylinders.
- Full pallet: 40 cylinders, the lowest price per cylinder.
R-1234YF in 10 lb cylinders is packed differently, at 18, 30 or 60 cylinders. Cylinder weights listed are refrigerant only, not the empty cylinder. Each product page shows the exact count and cylinder size.

How to compare bulk refrigerant prices
Bulk prices change often, so we don’t list them in this guide. The live price is always on the product page. When you compare sellers, compare the full landed cost:
- Price per pound, not per cylinder. Cylinder sizes differ (20, 24, 25 or 30 lb), so divide the pallet price by the total pounds.
- Freight and hazmat fees. Some sellers add freight, liftgate or hazmat charges at checkout. Our pallet freight is free to the lower 48.
- Quote delays. A “request a quote” price can change before you hear back. Our bulk pricing is posted live, so you can order the same day.
- New or reclaimed. Make sure you know which you’re getting, and that any reclaimed refrigerant came from an EPA-certified reclaimer.
- Sealed, labeled cylinders. A price far below market can mean mislabeled or contaminated refrigerant, and that risks a compressor.
New vs. reclaimed bulk refrigerant
Absolute Refrigerants is on EPA’s list of certified refrigerant reclaimers. We reclaim R-22 in-house, test every batch for purity in-house and through National Refrigerants, Inc., and fill it into new, factory-sealed cylinders. R-410A, R-454B, R-32 and most other refrigerants we sell are new (virgin). A few commercial refrigerants are also offered as reclaimed product from our supplier, and the product page says so clearly.
Shipping and receiving a pallet
- Freight: orders of 10 or more cylinders ship by LTL truck freight, free to the lower 48.
- Signature required: someone has to be there to sign for the delivery.
- Local pickup: pallets can also be picked up at our Scottsdale location, 7607 E Greenway Rd #700, Scottsdale, AZ 85260, Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 1 PM MST. Order online first, then call (480) 625-4214 to arrange your pickup ahead of time.
- Ground only: Department of Transportation hazmat rules for compressed gas mean refrigerant can’t ship by air or overnight.
- Dispatch: weekday orders placed before 1 PM MST usually ship the same day. See Dispatching Times.
- When it arrives: check the cylinder count and look for damage before you sign, and note any problem on the delivery receipt.
- Storage: keep cylinders upright and secured in a cool, dry, ventilated area away from heat sources and direct sun. Store A2L refrigerants such as R-454B and R-32 following the manufacturer’s instructions and local codes.

Bulk refrigerant FAQ
How many cylinders are on a pallet of refrigerant?
On most of our pallet listings, a quarter pallet is 10 cylinders, a half pallet is 20, and a full pallet is 40. R-1234yf 10 lb cylinders are the exception at 18, 30, or 60 cylinders. Each product page shows the exact counts.
Do I need to request a quote for bulk refrigerant?
No. Bulk pricing is live on every pallet product page and updates throughout the day, so the price you see when you order is the price you pay. Use the custom pallet form only if you want to mix several refrigerants on one pallet.
Can I mix refrigerants on one pallet?
Yes. Our custom pallet request form lets you pick up to five refrigerant types and the number of cylinders of each, and we send back a complete estimate.
How do refrigerant pallets ship?
Orders of 10 or more cylinders ship by LTL truck freight at no charge to the lower 48, and someone has to sign for the delivery. Hazmat rules for compressed gas mean refrigerant ships by ground only. Weekday orders placed before 1 PM MST usually ship the same day.
Do I need an EPA card to buy refrigerant in bulk?
At checkout you can either upload your EPA card or e-sign a waiver confirming the refrigerant is going to a certified HVAC technician.
Is your bulk refrigerant new or reclaimed?
R-22 is reclaimed in-house by Absolute Refrigerants, an EPA-certified reclaimer, and filled into new, factory-sealed cylinders. R-410A, R-454B, R-32 and most other refrigerants we sell are new (virgin). A few commercial refrigerants are also offered as reclaimed product from our supplier, and the product page says so.
